Benefits Of Having A Moustache

Filled under: ,

For many, moustache is a continuously disturbing unsightly patch of upper lip hair since majority of women prefer their spouse to be devoid of it.Whereas at the other extreme,it might be to our advantage in that most people fear & respect a man with a moustache; you don’t have to tip and also you belong to the coolest exclusive moustachioed men club. However, there are several other reasons why you would be concerned in having it on your face.

1)DECREASE CHANCES OF CANCER

All of us know that face is the most exposed part of our body to the sunlight’s harmful UV-A rays. Thus covering up your face with a beard or moustache which would reduce the exposed area will lessen the damage caused to your genetic material by the sun.Melanoma, actinic keratoses etc. results due to overexposure to sun and these contributes to major risk for developing squamous cell carcinoma.According to a study conducted in Southern Queensland, beards block upto 95% of the UV rays and plays a major role in protection against basal cell carcinoma. Thus, while facial hair keeps your forehead from developing Jack Nicholsonesque creases, moustache keeps the bottom half looking younger.

2)INSECTS FEAR FUR

A recent field test showed that men with facial hair were less likely to be bitten by insects. With all the diseases that are spread by these little pests it’s clear that keeping some fuzz as a preventive measure is better and cheaper.

3)WARDS OFF FROST BITE

Beards and moustaches can keep your faces warmer during winter and aid in the prevention of wind burn and chapped lips. Also these are a cheaper alternatives to lipbalms.

4)DELAYS AGING

Who wouldn’t want to look younger as they grow old?I would say ‘Nobody’.Our skin has natural moisture balancing mechanisms maintained by the structures called ‘sebaceous glands’.These glands secrete an oily substance called ‘sebum’ which keeps our skin looking young and elastic.A thick beard will not only shield it from being rubbed off the face but also protects against wind exposure which may lead to redness and dryness.According to Dr.Lowe, a dermatologist, moustache and beard can hold water. The presence of facial hair follicles also benefit the health of the skin.

5)ASTHMA AND FLU

None of the moustachioeds would have ever considered preventing asthma by growing a moustache. That sounds funny too.But not so funny,it’s a fact.Asthma is a type I hypersensitivity reaction on exposure to certain allergens usually pollen and dust particles.Moustache can effectively block the dust or any other particle allergens from getting into the respiratory tract ,thereby preventing an attack. The more the hair on your beard, the more efficient will be your ‘filter’.

6)BLEMISH FREE SKIN

Use of razors on the delicate skin of face can be the major cause of bacterial infections, folliculitis etc. resulting from epithelial damage. Forgoing the razors will not only hide the blemishes but also lessen the frequency of skin irritation ,acne, rashes etc.

    2. You can't eat pork in many holy books because the barbarians of that time didn't properly cook it and many people died because of it. Quran is just as fake as any religions book.
