Loneliness kills more people than obesity does.

Being alone is a serious health issue. As per the studies of elderly people and social isolation it is stated that those who stay lonely and are out if touch of the society were twice as likely to die prematurely. The mortality risk increases and is equivalent to that from smoking. It is twice as dangerous as obesity. Keeping away from society increases inflammation, which may cause arthritis, diabetes type II and heart disease. It not only makes us sick but it kills as well. As per a recent survey, the percentage of adults being lonely has gone up to 40% from 20% in the 1980s. Networking on internet or on social sites makes loneliness even worse.

A study conducted recently showed that the time you spend on the social network or facebook is inversely related to how happy you feel through out the day. Usually you go through loneliness when nobody likes you or you have chosen it for yourself. It leads to depression and headache. Negativity creeps in and you start thinking like zombies.

You may have many friends, but if you can not rely on a single person, you will feel lonely. Loneliness kills more people than obesity does.

Denmark and Great Britain both are putting in efforts and trying to find out the ways to eliminate loneliness and find solutions for elderly lonely people. In a study, Cacioppo observed and measured the brain activity during the sleep of nonlonely and lonely people. Lonely people were way too prone to micro awakenings, which show that the brain is on alert for threats through out the night.

Fixing loneliness is not an easy task. Once you adapt yourself to such disastrous situation, it becomes way too tough for you to come out of it and gain back the life. Even though the internet has played an important role in filling your isolation, you must interact with other people in your life too and improve your bond with them. You must go out, make friends and start trusting people. Life is 90% of what you think. So the better you think or feel the better life you live.

As per a research, those who started dating online and got married were less likely to get divorce than those who met offline. Therefore, internet can also help you fix you loneliness.
