Here is a little timeline about some immediate effects of quitting smoking and how it is going to affect your body RIGHT NOW.

1. In 20 Minutes 
Your blood pressure will come back to normal. 

 2. In 8 Hours 
Toxic gas’s level called carbon monoxide in your blood stream will be reduced by half of it and therefore oxygen level will come to normal point. 

3. In 48 Hours 
All the nicotine from your body will be gone and your chance of getting a heart attack will be reduced. Also, your sense of taste and smell will return to normal level. 

4. In 72 Hours 
In 72 hours your bronchial tubes will be relaxed and this will increase your energy level. 

5. In 2 weeks 
With in 2 weeks of quitting smoking, your blood circulation in your body will improve and increase. This will continue to improve for the next 10 weeks. 

6. In 3-9 Months 
In 3 to 9 months, since your lung functioning and its capacity will be improved by 10%, this will reduce your cough, wheezing and breathing problems. 

7. In 1 Year 
The risk of going through heart attack will be dropped down by 50%. 

8. In 5 Years 
Your risk of having a stroke will be equal to the risk level of stroke of that non smoker. 

 9. In 10 Years 
With in 10 years of quitting smoking, you will help yourself by reducing the risk level of lung cancer to that of a non smoker. 

10. In 15 Years 
Your risk of having a heart attack will be equal to the risk level of heart attack of a non smoker.
