Filled under: , ,

Generally when we go to buy mattress, we tend to buy the one which is more comfortable and cozy. But we should take care of both the aspects comfort as well as health. We usually don’t think much before buying a mattress. We spend about 7-8 hours a day sleeping on our mattress. When we sleep, our spinal discs re-hydrate, recuperate from the strain of the day and regain their elasticity. That is why it is more important to get full night’s sleep and to have a correct mattress.

We use our mattresses in different body positions like on our sides, backs and in between. A good mattress should be orthopedically sensitive regardless where you sleep on the mattress or your sleeping position. Good mattresses which are made of pure memory foam distribute body weight evenly, giving complete cushioning and support that our body needs during sleep. Good pure foam mattresses enables good air circulation which reduces the sweating in nights and makes us sleep comfortably.

Another variety of mattress that is good for you is outlast fabric mattress. This was originally designed for NASA astronauts and top sports persons for keeping their body’s micro-climate constant. These mattresses regulate the body temperature by absorbing and releasing the heat. It acts like a thermostat which ensures your undisturbed sleep in any climate.

Broadly comfort can be described in 3 categories namely, soft, medium and firm. You should go for medium type as this type of mattress gives optimal cushioning and support to your back.

Make sure your mattress does not sag within few years of usage. Go for the mattress that provides optimal cushioning and support. Your mattress should be 20 cm longer than our body length and at least 160 cm wide if two people are sleeping on it.

For those with impaired immune systems with symptoms ranging from a common headache or joint ache, to unexplained rashes, eczema, nosebleeds, dizziness, even severe migraines, arthritis, ringing in the ears, nausea and more, should opt for a hypoallergenic mattress in which the materials and constant transpiration of the mattress ensure its suitability even for those who suffer from allergies.

A good mattress is not only good for your sleep but also for your health. So make sure you buy an optimal mattress.
