The 3-day Detox Diet

Detox diets help the body get rid of its waste and environmental toxins. Detox diets contains raw foods instead of complicated dishes that upset the digestive system. Naturopaths use detox diets in cases of  acute illnesses – colds, flu, bronchitis, gastroenteritis (in which case raw fruits and vegetables are replaced with soups and steamed veggies) and inflammatory diseases, such as skin rash.

Before starting a detox diets Ideally, you should seek advice from a professional practitioner as some detox diets are unsuitable for children, the elderly and people with poor health or which are recovering from a surgery.

The 3-day Detox Diet – Day one
Drink only fruit or vegetable juices. Use freshly extracted apple, pear, grape juice or canned or bottled pineapple, unsweetened and half diluted in water. Drink a glass 4-5 times a day. Between them, drink water or boiled water, in which you put honey and a teaspoon of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.

The 3-day Detox Diet – Day two
After waking up and before going to bed, or between meals, drink fruit juice or herbal tea (lime, mint, chamomile). During meal, eat raw fruits (grapes, pears, peaches, cantaloupe, oranges). You can grate or cut the fruits and mix. Drink as much water as you want.

The 3-day Detox Diet – Day three

Breakfast
Fresh or boiled and mashed fruits, mixed with fresh goat or sheep milk yogurt.

Lunch
Salad of grated leafy and root vegetables, with raisins and sunflower seeds. For dessert, eat fresh fruits.

Dinner
Vegetable soup or steamed veggies seasoned with soy sauce. Drink water when you are thirsty.

Healthy persons can follow this diet for a few days, but it is preferable to seek medical advice first.
