1. Oral Health

Green tea contains natural fluoride, polyphenols and catechins which are linked with killing the harmful bacteria that are responsible for tooth decay, bad breath and other gum diseases. As per a study published in the European Journal of Nutrition, consumption of one or more cups of green tea reduces the risk of tooth loss. However, adding sugar, honey and other sweeteners can negate these benefits.

2. Cancer

After several studies it is concluded that green tea helps preventing cancer including prostate, pancreatic, breast, colorectal, esophageal, bladder, lung and stomach. It is catechin that is found in green tea which helps reducing the formation and growth of tumors. It also prevents cell mutation. 4 cups of green tea a day can help reap the anti-cancer benefits.

3. Weight loss

It is said that the catechins that are found in green tea create some heat within the body which helps in burning calories. This inhibits certain chemicals in the brain thereby prolonging thermogenesis (the production of heat). As per a study those who had four cups of green tea regularly had 12% higher fat oxidation and burned about 67 extra calories per day. To increase the body’s metabolic rate, 3 cups of green tea per day is recommended.

4. Bone Health

It is said that regular intake of green tea for about 10 years decrease the risk of osteoporotic fractures. Green tea helps diminishing bone loss through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

5. Heart Health

Green tea helps lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke. Green tea also helps lowering cholesterol levels. It has been published by Harvard that people who take at least 1 cup of green tea regularly have 44% lesser chances of getting heart attack.
