Water is the most essential part of our life. It is always said that we should consume about 8 glasses of water or more every day. But sometimes it becomes tough to consume the required amount of water. Moreover, 20% of water we get from the solid foods, especially fruits and vegetables. So here is a list of foods that are rich in water and at least 90% of their weight is comprised of water.
1. Cucumber
Water content of cucumber is 96.7%. Cucumber has the highest content of water amongst all the solid foods. It can easily be consumed in salads. You can also pump up the water content of your cucumber by just blending it with some mint, nonfat yoghurt and ice cubes to make a cucumber soup. In summers you can have the chilled soup while in winters you can have the hot soup.
2. Radishes
Water content of cucumber is 95.3%. Make a routine to involve the radishes in your salad in summers. With water content, they also provide spicy sweet flavor. Apart from water, radishes are enriched with antioxidants. Slice them up and add a pinch of salt and pepper to them make them taste yummier.
3. Tomatoes
Water content of cucumber is 94.5%. Tomatoes will always be the main ingredient in the salad. Don’t forget to add sweet cherries and varieties of grapes that constitute a great hydrating salad. You can make tomato soup as well.
4. Cauliflower
Water content of cucumber is 92.1%. This surprising hydrating food contains not only water but some essential minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients also that help in lowering cholesterol and fight cancer including breast cancer. As per a study conducted in 2012, it w as found that eating cauliflower is linked with lower risk of dying from breast cancer disease.
5. Strawberries
Water content of cucumber is 91%. All the berries are good for hydration. Sweet strawberries are the best of the lot. Raspberries and blueberries both hover around 85% water, while blackberries are only slightly better at 88.2%. People love strawberries and it can be eaten in many ways such as in fruit salad, smoothie, raw, etc. This way you can stay hydrated by eating your favorite fruit.
